simple story of generational conflict where an elderly couple's visit to their busy, self-absorbed offspring in tokyo. yasujiro ozu's masterpiece.
his work has been cited as having a major influence on the films of artists as jim jarmusch (usa), abbas kiarostami (iran), aki kaurismaki (finland), and hou hsiao-hsien (taiwan).
